10분을 짜릿한 3분처럼 with Aizzy [10 minutes that feels like a thrilling 3 minutes with teacher Aizzy]

**Up to now

I’m posting a honest and non-exaggerated review about my neither long nor short 1 month with teacher Aizzy. I transferred to AmigoTalk from a different company… The biggest reason why I chose AmigoTalk was because of the price. My biggest bias was that if it costs less, the quality will decrease, but when I took the level test, this bias was destroyed.

Honestly, English wasn’t for a chance to get a promotion or because of my job, but it was just for my own interest and to learn for communication. There was a time where I couldn’t tell how much my English improved or whether my English is enough for conversation or not. That instant, I applied for a level test and I received a precise result through a detailed and broken down question.

Honestly, the first teacher that I chose didn’t fit my class style, so after struggling, I decided to do class with teacher Aizzy.

**수업시작 전 우려됐던 점

제 경험에 비추어 전화영어를 하기 전에 가장 우려되는 점은 강사들의 발음, 수업의 질이 과연 기대만큼 만족시킬 것인가 였습니다. 이런 우려는 아미고톡을 통한 한달동안의 수업 후, 편견이었음을 다시한번 상기하게 됩니다.

**What I was concerned of before class

Because of my past experience, my biggest concern was the teacher’s pronunciation and whether or not the class quality would satisfy my expectation. After a month of class with AmigoTalk, I was recalled that these concerns were just my bias.

**In call

I’m the type of person that likes to be punctual, but teacher Aizzy calls right on time, and if she isn’t on time, she apologizes before class.

My class is 5 times a week/ 10 minutes a day. We start with a “Hello” and while we have a good time talking, the 10 minuets pass by like 3 minutes. Many times, we end the class a bit disappointed with “It’s already time” and “Time passed by so quick.” That’s why, when I apply for class next month, I’m planning to increase the time to 20 minutes.

 1. Class Type: We have free talking for about 2~3 minutes, and then we start the actual class. We talk about not just my life, but also teacher Aizzy’s life. We talk so that there is friendliness and to not make class awkward.

Teacher Aizzy doesn’t only focus on the given curriculum, but also helps me talk about the lesson’s idea freely. She also asks me questions about the lesson so that I can answer and talk about it. When I stutter and can’t answer the unexpected question that she throws at me, she doesn’t just skip it. She waits for me patiently and allows me to answer it in my English diary, then on the next day, she gives me time to answer the questions.

 2. 표현:  그날의 수업과 관련한 Key Expression을 하나씩 알려주어 좀더 풍부한 단어를 만들 수 있도록 유용한 표현들을 던져줍니다. 그날 수업과 관련한 단어이기에 기억에 더 오래 남습니다.

2. Expression: She teaches me a Key Expression related to that day’s lesson so that I can make more interesting and creative expressions. Because the word is related to that day’s lesson, I can remember it longer.

 3. 문법: 문법은 오류가 나타날 시 즉각 Feedback을 주어 올바른 문장을 말해 보도록 유도합니다. 그러나 무조건적으로 수정해주는 것이 아니라 왜 틀렸는지 문법적 설명과 이유를 들어 이해하기 쉽도록 도와줍니다. 그리고 문법적으로 올바른 문장이더라도 원어민들이 자주 쓰는 표현을 알려주어 실생활에 적용해 보도록 권합니다.

3. Grammar: When I have an error in grammar, she feedbacks me right away and helps me say the correct phrase. She doesn’t just correct me, but also explains why it is wrong so that I can understand easily. Also, even when I say something correctly, she teaches me some frequently used native expressions and advises me to use them in everyday life.

 4. 발음: 세상에는 다양한 발음이 존재하지만 우리가 쫓는 발음은 크게 American이나 British Accent이라고 생각합니다. 그점에 견주어 볼 때, Aizzy님의 발음은 제가 구사하고자 하는 미국식 발음에 가깝다고 생각합니다.

 4. Pronunciation: There are many different pronunciations in the world, but our ideal pronunciations are American or British. Speaking of pronunciation, I think that teacher Aizzy’s pronunciation is close to the American pronunciation that I’m trying to learn.

 5. Teacher's comment:  좋았던 점, 부족한 점을 통한 발전가능성, 학습방법 등을 꼼꼼히 짚어 주어 영어학습에 방향을 잡아주기도 합니다. 제 자신을 객관화 하기에 유용한 부분 이라고 생각합니다.

 5. Teacher's comment: She teaches me how to study well and leads me in my English studies; she also tells me about the potential to improve through the good points and lacking points.

**After ending the call

I remember studying passionately for the 10 class minutes because of the excitement from studying with teacher Aizzy and my eagerness.

When she gives me homework related to the lesson, it helps my English writing to improve and helps me gather my thoughts when I write the homework in my English diary. I write in my English diary everyday because I enjoy expressing my thoughts in English. The only thing that I’m disappointed about is that my diary doesn’t get corrected immediately, but I’m still satisfied with the corrections.

**Ending

When I talk with my foreign friends, there are times when I don’t know whether my grammar or pronunciation is correct or not. This is because they understand me even without explanation because they are native speakers. The merit of phone talk is that you can talk without gestures. Through this, you can practice speaking with correct grammar and pronunciation because that’s the only way your opponent will understand you. If you want to feel the 10 minutes become thrilling 3 minutes with teacher Aizzy of AmigoTalk, don’t hesitate; try class! “Thumbs up~!”
