Last year, I took an OPIC speaking exam for the first time, and the result was IM1. This result is not enough for employment. Right when I looked at my result, I covered it up because it was embarrassing. I couldn’t just sit around like this, so in March, this year, I applied for an OPIC speaking course which was 20 minutes a day, for 1 month. Teacher Richard was my teacher! First of all, he is really friendly. He’s a guy, but he’s really considerate and he always encourages me to speak, and gives me courage to try things. Also, I’ve never learned English before and I’ve never lived abroad, so my speaking doesn’t sound natural. When I say something and it doesn’t sound right, he cleverly corrects me. 예를 들어서 today i went library....and do something...um....because i have a school homework ...um... i have to summit it.....summit date is Tuesday 라고 매우 더듬거리며 얘기하면 선생님께서는 oh, you went to library to do some research because of school assignment! Plus!!! the deadline is Tuesday! For example: Today i went library....and do something...um....because i have a school homework ...um... i have to summit it.....summit date is Tuesday If I say something like this, Teacher Richard corrects me like this: Oh, you went to library to do some research because of school assignment! Plus!!! The deadline is Tuesday! You should be really busy blabla… Try hard, you can do it! He corrects me really well like this. When I heard that, I realized that I should talk more like teacher Richard so that people would understand what I’m trying to say. I wouldn’t have known these things if I had studied by myself. Classes like this for 1 month (there were some absences too), 20 minutes a day, talking with teacher Richard helped me get an IH result. This is 3 levels higher than IM1. I was too busy to study for anything except for phone talk because I had school, but the day before my OPIC exam, I looked over the grammar corrections from teacher Richard in My Page. In the exam, I tried to remember the corrections and speak carefully to not make any mistakes, and with that, I received a good result. I know that there are many people here that are better than me, but if it wasn’t for phone talk, my result would’ve been English use: 10%. I’m glad that I could get a good result from studying with teacher Richard. Right now, I’m studying Job Interview with teacher Archie. My teacher changed because I had to change my schedule. Teacher Archie seems a bit stricter than teacher Richard, but he is very pro-like. He tells me sharply that my answer is not confident enough and that it’s too abstract. This helps me a lot. He doesn’t only care about English grammar, but also the contents in my answer. Job interview course is a bit hard for me, but I’m learning a lot. I need to study hard from now on! I am thankful to teacher Richard. I’m also thankful that I’m learning a lot from teacher Archie. I’ll end my review right here… Bye bye…
