[University student, Conversation beginner, First month review]

Hello~
I have a lot to say.
I warn you in advance for the length. Haha

*University third year/Reality of a English conversation beginner.

From when I entered university, I could only think of one thing.
That I want to be good at English conversation, and that I lack a lot in English.

Honestly, I first felt the need for English when I was in high school.
When I was in middle school, I had no friends that were really good at English conversation, but when I entered high school, I realized that I wasn’t able to beat the students that studied abroad… Just like that, I started to feel inferior and felt jealous of them. I, then, studied only for the College Scholastic Ability Test. When I entered university, I found myself in front of another barrier, which was English! English conversation was a required subject.

It was, clearly, a class that I entered after taking a level test, but everyone, except for me, could speak pretty well. I personally thought that I was pretty good at English, but my mind went blank when I was actually trying to speak. I just kept repeating, “I’m… I’m… I’m…” I had a lot of things that I wanted to say, but I couldn’t even say phrases in middle school level… In class, I kept feeling embarrassed and heavy. I felt the need to study English conversation right away. I looked for language schools, (I couldn’t even think of phone talk at that time) but nothing fit my schedule. Then, my term ended, as well as my required subject, English conversation. Just like that, the need for English conversation disappeared…

In no time, I became third year and, once again, the barrier of English conversation was in front of me. This time, I couldn’t delay any longer. Not just that, I was planning to go on a vacation to the States for vacation, but even basic conversation was a problem. There was only one thing I could do alongside my part-time job, language school, and classes. Phone talk was the answer! And that’s how I met AmigoTalk…

*How I chose AmigoTalk.

The most important thing was the price.

The first phone talk that I encountered was introduced by a friend, but it was much more expensive than the price that I was thinking of. Being a student, the price burdened me a lot…

Then, I saw the price differences posted by a blogger which also in the AmigoTalk website.

There I took the level test..

I took the test very comfortably and skillfully. The skype connection with teacher Chariz was poor. I couldn’t hear clearly and we kept repeating, “Hello,” over and over again. I was touched to see how sincerely teacher Chariz proceeded with the test, even in that situation. And teacher Chariz helped my poor English by precisely grasping the meaning of what I was trying to say. I could feel the passion and capability of teacher Chariz

I fell for how comfortably you could see all the teachers’ character in the Teacher Introduction Page. In other sites, there were no information like these, and you couldn’t even see the teachers’ background. (The one thing that I observed carefully was the correction ability of teachers; in listening, I can understand 99%, and I sensed that the teachers had really good pronunciation!) Also, AmigoTalk website itself had really pretty UI, and there were massive amounts of student class reviews. I, also, really liked Atoki, and being able to prolong and postpone classes in My Page.

Easy class system and extraordinary contents!
I couldn’t help but to choose AmigoTalk!!
That’s why I settled the payments right away.

With LV teacher.

*5 class per week for 20 minutes with teacher LV

It was the first day of class. I was so nervous.
I was stuttering, and had a horrible pronunciation and weird grammar. It felt so unnatural and embarrassing. My first class with teacher LV, a 20 year experienced teacher, was really fun. We introduced ourselves, and it was really fun to speak in English. Also, teacher LV fit my personality perfectly. While I was taking the level test, there was a teacher that told me his/her name over and over again saying that he/she wanted to teach me, but I wanted to learn from teacher LV way more than any other teacher. I was so embarrassed in class, but I had a blast while learning even with poor English. It would’ve been awkward if it was free talking, but I could proceed easily because we had a textbook.

It was really fun, but in 20 minutes, my eyes kept going where the clock was. It was exhausting, but I personally think that for your skills to improve, you need to study for atleast 20 minutes, 5 times a week. That’s why I didn’t quit! After 3 days of class, I felt that 20 minutes was too short. My class was through skype, but while talking and sending emoticons in the chat-box, time always flew by really quick. 20 minutes felt too short, but I don’t think I’ll be capable of doing 30 minutes due to my lack of skills. Haha.

The really important thing is that, after my first class, everyday, I looked forward to having class with AmigoTalk~ AmigoTalk is like my blood supply. I also improved a lot. Even thinking of correct grammar before saying each phrase is a big improvement for me. I even lost hate and fear of Mondays. I can’t even think of one weekday with AmigoTalk. I will keep doing AmigoTalk. If I have known that it would be this fun, I would’ve started when I was first year. I can’t wait to get into Top Level.

I got too carried while writing thinking that there are a lot of students that are in my situation. I finished studying 1 month (5 times a week for 20 minutes) today. I decided to keep studying even in March. I’m thankful for all the good and friendly AmigoTalk community~ Lets stick together always~
